There are now 2 ways to access old List messages:
The listserver archives all messages into monthly files. Access tothe archives is through email messages addressed to listserver@relay.doit.wisc.edu There are several ways to access thearchives:
To search messages, issue the command search scte-list<pattern>
(insert the item you wish to search for in place of <pattern>). There
are several options to searching;for more info, send the command help
search to listserver@relay.doit.wisc.edu
For example, to find all the messages relating to SEGA, use thecommand:
search scte-list sega
The command search scte-list Harmonic | Lightwaves | 1550
(the | (vertical bar) operator is "or") finds any message thatmentions "Harmonic"
or "Lightwaves" or "1550".
The result of a search will be an e-mail message containing a list ofmatches - the monthly files which contain the pattern you weresearching for. Then you need to get those monthly files and search forthe individual messages with your own editor.
Use the command get scte-list <file> For example, to
get the March 1996 archive file, use the command get scte-list9603
To get an index to all the files, use the command indexscte-list
You'll get back an index (a directory) of the archivefiles.
